The island’s growing and uninterrupted water supply could be solved by the establishment of a water tower. The Water Tower on the Margaret Island was built in the flowering period of the Art Nouveau,  the building was designed by Vilmos Rezső in 1911.

The important architectural and engineering task was solved by Dr. Szilárd Zielinski, a professor of electrical engineering.

The co-operation between Rezső Vilmos and Szilárd Zielinszki resulted an innovative and outstanding building which could operate as a water tower and a lookout tower at the same time. The tower became one of the key symbols of Margaret Island.
