The monument was made by István Kiss in 1972, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the unification of Pest-Buda and Óbuda.
The Centennial Memorial is surrounded by round shaped lawn with a diameter of 22 m, which is interrupted by andesite stripes. The andesite stripes are symbolizing the streets of Budapest.
